What was planned originally as a 3 day session on the Mighty Trent was cut down to 24 hours due to the amount of action! A whopping 18 barbel, with 6 being doubles, the action was fast and furious! Keeping the baits varied by switching between 14mm Frankfurter Spice & Red Salmon Boosted Hooke Pellets, and both C.K.O. & Squid Liver Enzyme Cocoons. Our man on the Severn @garym7 both ended 2024 & kicked off 2025 in fine style with this cracking haul of Barbel! Paste the ultimate in attraction, releasing soluble extracts, liquid foods, flavours, organic compounds, amino acids into water. Stimulating and activating as sensory response from the fish to feed. There are many applications when fishing with paste. Simply applying a layer of paste to a bottom bait / free offering. Applying a thin layer of paste to a pop up or bottom bait, to add extra attraction. Wrapping paste around the lead weight for added attraction when fishing the rivers or lakes. Boilie baits that have been rolled into size but not boiled, leave to stand for 3 to 5 days, rotating once daily. When used these baits break down very quickly on the lake or riverbed. Breakdown time 1 to 3 hours, depending on the size and mixture you have chosen to use. This has proved to be a deadly method on some of the more difficult venues. This fine looking winter whisker was the just reward for perseverance, after an hour of casting, the bait was swapped over to one of our most successful winter baits, the Dark C.K.O. Boosted Cocoon Special, with a paste wrap, along with softened pellets in the lead, fast forward 20 minutes and the rod hooped over, a good tussle ensued, before the net was deployed under this stunning 11lb 5oz belter!
