Our man from up Preston way @andyriley1969 had a heck of a session on the Paddocks stretch of the Trent recently. “Back home after 48 hours on the Tidal Trent, the trip didn’t get off to a good start with 4 hours in traffic, then stuck in the field, my own stupid fault, finally got fishing lol. The first 24 hrs had 3 bites, lost 2 fish to a snag, so moved a little bit upstream, then lost another at the net, just about to slide the net under her and she dived line snap on a rock. Gutted, thought it’s going to be one of those trips. The next 24 hours were slow, and I had 4 bites, which included a double hook up. Landed all 4 fish. High pressure clear water, east winds are not the best conditions, I did catch so happy with that. All fish caught on CKO pellets, 3 bites on 14mm 4 bites on 8mm, Back on the Ribble next week. No hiding the fact I’ve struggled finding motivation for all manner of different reasons, most recently the loss of a close loved one which only added to the mountain of excuses not to go. Well yesterday it was time to give myself a kick up the arse and break the negative cycle. Woke up to the rising sun and bright blue sky, the temperature sitting around 4-5°c with a pleasant sunny wintry vibe…..a session on the syndicate was the day’s target. Had a dig in the freezer and rustled up a 1/2kg of pic n mix 15mm boilies and 14mm barrels, choice of flavours being Coconut, Hydroshrimp and BPT….keep’s em guessing, made up some 35mm mesh bags, loaded the car and hit the road.
